Dispatch & Packaging

Slate hearth packaging

So this week we have made and dispatched a large circular slate hearth for a suspended stove and I thought I would share with you some of the effort that goes into our packaging  our hearths. It is almost as involved as making the product!

After your hearth is finished, its corners and edges are all protected with a layer of foam edging which is secured in place.  Cardboard sheeting is then used to protect the top and bottom which is again secured in place.  Labels are attached to both the hearth itself and the crate it is travelling in and finally plenty of fragile tape is used before it is put into the crate and secured using wooden struts.

We never send heavy items through the parcel system as it is impossible to protect them from being thrown in and out of vans.  Instead, we send them  through the pallet network where they will never be manually lifted.  In addition to this, we often use our own transport as well if we can combine it with another delivery in the area or the delivery is very local.  We communicate with you every step of the way to ensure you know when your hearth is being dispatched and when you can expect to receive it.  Rest assured even in the very, very unlikely event the product arrives damaged, we offer a no quibble replacement service.
